Fulshear (estimated population: 4,306) provides a quiet country life without being too far away from shopping areas and other conveniences. Though it was not officially incorporated until 1977, Fulshear's history dates back nearly two centuries. Originally established in 1824 by Churchill Fulshear, the city got its start as a farming community, much like it is today. In the 1970s, it was home to fewer than 250 residents, but its population has been multiplying since then.
Despite its growth, Fulshear has stayed true to its humble roots and is known for its hospitality and close-knit sense of togetherness. The city's annual Fourth of July Barbecue and Picnic is a notable piece of its community-oriented tradition, continuing to provide entertainment and bonding for residents each year since 1940. Fulshear also boasts the highest per capita income and educational attainment in Fort Bend County.
